What to wear to make your Photos impactful and beautiful
Choosing the right clothing for a photo session is essential, as it can significantly impact the overall look and feel of the photos. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when selecting outfits for your family session:
Coordinate Colors
Instead of everyone wearing the same color, choose a color palette and coordinate your outfits around it. You can choose complementary colors or shades of the same color. Consider the location and background of the photos and select colors that will complement the surroundings. You don't have to wear matching outfits but try to choose complementary colors and styles that look great together.
Here are my favorite colors based on the season:
Summer: Pinks, Blues, Yellows, All Neutrals, Earth tones, Purples. Avoid Green and Teal.
Fall: Reds, Rusts, Earth Tones, Neutrals & Greens. Avoid Pastels and oranges, and light yellows.
Winter: Colors that pop. Bolder colors including reds, greens, blues, blacks, rusts, and oranges. Especially in the snow, any color works!
Spring: Pastels, Earthtones, Whites, Creams, and Greys
Consider the location of your session when choosing your outfit(s).
If you're shooting in a natural setting, consider wearing flowy dresses, light fabrics, or even earthy tones. If you're shooting in an urban area, you may want to wear something more sleek and modern.
Keep it Simple
Avoid wearing clothing with busy patterns or logos that can be distracting in photos. Stick with solid color, or subtle patterns that won't be overwhelming.
Consider the Season
Dress appropriately for the weather and the season. Consider layering with scarves, jackets, or sweaters if it's cold outside. If it's hot, opt for lightweight, breathable fabrics.
Dress Comfortably
Choose clothing that is comfortable and fits well. You want to be able to move around freely and feel relaxed during the session.
Accessorize
Accessories can add interest and personality to your outfits. Consider adding accessories to your outfit, such as statement jewelry or a hat, to add extra interest and texture to your photos.
Don't Forget the Shoes
Shoes can be an important part of the overall look. Choose shoes that are comfortable and coordinate with your outfit.
