Telluride Engagement session- Ryan & Sofie

I am slightly biased, but Johnsons are beautiful people if you ask me. Ryan is my (Natalie) brother-in-law, aka, known to my children as "daddy's twin." Yes. My husband Cody is a twin.

When first meeting in Washington, Ryan and Sofie formed an instant connection a little over a year ago, their shared passion for fitness, the outdoors, and their mutual desire for a family, made them realize life would be better together than apart. In March of this past year, we were SO excited to hear that Ryan proposed to Sofie during a romantic walk along the picturesque shorelines of Tacoma, WA. With family gathering this year in Telluride, Cody and I wanted to create a memorable engagement session for them. Little did we know that what followed would be a pretty fun adventure.

The day didn't start with the idyllic sunshine and rainbows we had hoped for. Instead, dark clouds loomed overhead, threatening to disrupt our plans. Undeterred, Cody and I remained determined to make the most of the situation. Seeking respite from the rain, we found ourselves waiting in the car, hoping for a stroke of luck. Hours passed, filled with rain, flooding, mud, and even hail. It felt like our efforts were in vain. However, with a deep determination, we embarked on a wild chase through the mountains near Telluride, searching for a spot that would shield us from the impending downpour. Every road we took seemed to lead us to another dead end, with menacing clouds persistently tailing us.

When we lost hope and made plans to "Try first thing again in the morning," we stumbled upon a field seemingly awaiting our arrival (that also had some Colorado goodness in it, let me know if we were correct with our guess what kind of plant that was! HA!). So after a shot of whiskey and a stroke of luck, the rain subsided just enough for us to seize the opportunity and attempt to capture at least a few photographs. Miraculously, the clouds parted, and radiant rays of sunshine broke through the gloom. Nature granted us two hours of enchanting backdrops that perfectly showcased Ryan and Sofie's love.

With aspen groves, wildflowers, snow-capped mountain peaks, and a dandelion-filled canvas illuminated by a warm golden glow, their engagement session took on a life of its own. As the golden hour slowly faded, signaling the end of their unforgettable session, Cody and I couldn't help but be grateful. What began as a chaotic adventure had transformed into something truly extraordinary.

This was everywhere…. Let me know if its Colorado’s favorite leaf lol

Throughout this year, I've realized that life is unpredictable (especially with this crazy Colorado weather!), much like the weather we encountered that day. Yet, amidst the unpredictability, love remains steadfast and unshakable. When we reflect on these moments, we will constantly be reminded of our extraordinary session with Ryan and Sofie—and it's just a testament to the enduring power of love.
